Summer Blues--big move week

May 26-31, 2008:
*Big moving week. It's the week after and I'm just now feeling recovered enough to write about it. James and I stayed up till two or three in the morning for a few nights in a row just trying to get everything ready. We scavenged boxes from the grocery store, dumpster and friends and we still cut it pretty close with having enough. Memorial day weekend was a blur of packing tape, boxes, and trying to entertain the kiddos.
*The movers came on Tuesday morning and luckily we were able to leave the kids with Eloisa for the morning so they didn't have to see all of their stuff being carried away. Then James took the kids to Double Dave's pizza for one last time--we're really going to miss that place. Levi took his last nap in his crib and some friends from church watched Isaac for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I worked with a cleaning lady to get the house all spic and span and then I worked on touching up all of the paint in the house--not an easy job because the previous owners put so many different paint colors in the house. I also had to paint the front door because it got discolored when we had the house pressure washed.
* We spent the night at my friend Luz's house which turned out great because they were out of town for the night so we could just sleep in their beds. We did have a late night comedic episode with the toilet clogging. . .we had to scavenge for a plunger and we were both so tired we just wanted to wish the problem away but finally the darn thing flushed and we hit the hay.
Wednesday morning we awoke to Isaac pouncing us and wanting to go to the airport that instant. We had told him that on Wednesday we were flying to uncle Matt and aunt Lara' house and he was pretty pumped about getting the show on the road. My friend Luz came back and angelically whisked the boys away to McDonalds so that we could take care of some last minute errands. One of the errands ended up being going over to our house and killing a rat that our new tenants the Helgueras had cornered in the garage. James had to drop a large rat on its head--not the way you want your landlord experience to start out. I hate rats.
* The airplane ride wasn't too bad relative to other flights we've had, especially since Isaac slept most of the way. Levi was a bit a wild cat squirm worm and it was tough to keep him contained in the seat and not let him wake up Isaac. I had to keep remembering the advice of the cd my mom had me listen to about living in the moment. Such situations are alot more bearable if you don't focus on things like how much longer the flight is going to drag on or how its only been five minutes when it feels like 50 minutes. I just keep trying to find interesting things to be glad for in the moment and it really helped get me though.
*Isaac and Levi were in heaven when they got to see their cousins and we are very happy to report that Isaac has graduated to sleeping in the big kid room with Sophie and Ellie. Matthew and Levi are just two peas in a pod and instantly started running around with trucks together.
*Levi is totally obsessed with the Veggie Tales theme song and anything related to Veggie Tales. Lara suggested that we all go see a the new Veggie Tales movie on Thursday and that was a big hit with both of the boys. Its the first time I've ever brought either of them to a movie theater. I couldn't believe how entranced Levi was by the whole thing.
*On Sunday we send Isaac with Ellie to primary and it was really cute to see Isaac holding Ellie's hand for comfort and actually sitting quietly for sharing time. Levi kind of melted down in nursery because he's been sick with teething fevers and he just needed to zonk out for the afternoon nap.
