Moving Sale Week

May 5-May 11, 2008
Levi is counting, finishing the lines to songs and saying new words everyday! He’s at such a fun stage. James trained him how to raise his hand and say “ME!” when he asks a question like, “Who wants to go to the park?”
We went to the jungle this week and Isaac threw a rock at a bird so we had to have a long chat about being nice to animals. I don’t want him to think he can get away with that.
I really need a better discipline strategy and daily routine for both boys, but its tough to start anything new in the middle of this move. I really want to do the Accountable Kids program with them when we go to Philadelphia.
Luz watched the kids Thursday night so that we could go out to the Kasra grill for James’ farewell work dinner. The food there is so amazing—I also got most of the hummus to myself because James’ coworkers weren’t familiar with its extreme deliciousness.
Isaac is obsessed with watering the plants lately. He watered the sandbox too and that was kind of disasterous.
We did the big moving sale for charity on Saturday and we raised a grand total of $858 for Food for the Poor, Humanity Corps, and Esperañza para los niños—the orphanage in Mexico. It was a lot of fun, but the hardest part was getting everything out and ready and then cleaning it up!!! The missionaries were supposed to help clean up but they never showed up so it was just me, Carolyn Gallup, James and Maylis Helguera.
Luz had a going away fiesta for us at her house Saturday after the moving sale. It was perfect timing because I was way too tired to cook anything and her husband went out and got pupusas for everybody. They also made a huge salad and Sandra, Arminda, Anna and Angela (todas mis amigas de Spanish storytime) came and brought lemonade, arroz con leche, y tamales. Que rico. The pupusas totally hit the spot. It was really fun to hang out with everybody. James also discovered that Sandra was in his sister Julia’s class at the American school in Monterrey. Que coincidencia.
James took the boys to NASA on Saturday during the garage sale so they wouldn’t have to see a bunch of their toys being sold. James also took them to Denny’s and Isaac was very pumped about getting pancakes with a smile.
